The Black-necked Stilts working to save their eggs after the water level in the back pond rose in spite of it being a sunny day.

As I watched I wondered what was going through their minds.

My guess is that they were just doing what they had to, without the mental burden that humans would have.

Thus no blame. No sense of frustration. No sense of loss.

Instead they were just doing their collective best given the circumstances.

Oh that we humans could do as well in trying times.
