One of two Black-crowned Night Herons in a Cypress tree.

These birds are not usually out in the daytime and when they are, they rarely move around much.

The good part of their staying put is that it's easy to take their picture.

The bad part is that, if the pose or setting isn't good, waiting isn't likely to change the chances of getting a good picture.
