The American Coots are back!

So far I have seen about 25 of these birds. But if history repeats, there will be 100 - 200 later in the season.

In the meantime watch the antics as the resident Common Moorhens squabble over territory with the new arrivals.

And check out the lobulated feet on these birds if you get a chance. Unlike the Common Moorhen, each of the American Coots toes is separately webbed with folding flaps, making them pretty good swimmers.
