A newly fledged Red-winged Blackbird.

After about ten days in the nest, these birds are too big to all fit in the nest. So they jump out and spend the next few days climbing from stalk to stalk until their wings are strong enough to fly.

During this time period, they wander as far as ten feet from the nest and the parents find and continue to feed them.
