A Great Blue Heron parent watching one of it's two chicks attempt to down a much too large snake.

When the chicks are young, the parents put food in the nest and pick at it to give the chicks fresh spots to pick at for food and liquid nourishment.

Then, when the food dries out the parents eat it. But in the meantime the chicks get to play with the dead fish and snakes.
